Breast Augmentation

Many women feel that their breasts do not provide them with the feminine curves they desire. Breast augmentation enhances the size and shape of the breasts to create fullness, volume and balance. Silicone gel implants are made of 100% medical grade, pure silicone and are FDA approved for women 22 years or older. Saline implants are made up of a silicone shell filled with sterile saline solution. These implants allow to you to maintain a natural shape and are inserted through a small incision because they are filled after they are placed.

One of the most important aspects of breast augmentation surgery is choosing the implant. During a consultation, Dr. Morgan and her medical assistant discuss all implant size options, as well as have the patient try different sizes to help them make the right decision. Dr. Morgan will also advise the patient on the best placement technique and type of implants, taking into consideration age, medical history, desired look and life style.

Breast augmentation is done at the out-patient surgery center under general anesthesia. Recovery takes 3 to 5 days and patients usually return to work in 5 to 7 days. A surgical bra is worn for 6 weeks after the surgery. Regular exercise may be resumed in 2 weeks.

Breast Augmentation with a Breast Lift

A breast augmentation with a breast lift is for women who want more breast volume but also have loose, sagging breasts. A breast lift moves the nipple and areola higher on the breast, lifts the breast and gets rid of excess skin. Combining the two surgeries usually means a smaller implant can be placed because the lift helps with the breast shape making everything tighter.

A breast lift with breast augmentation does add to the recovery time. It is recommended that patients take 2 weeks off from work and no exercise other than walking for 4 to 6 weeks.
