The face loses fat over time causing the cheeks to become flat and droopy. Achieving the look of high cheek bones by restoring volume and definition can be done non-surgically and surgically. Dermal filler can be injected to restore plumpness to the cheeks and fill in hollowness but this usually only lasts for about a year. The permanent solution is cheek implants.
Cheek implants can give support to a flat upper face, create high cheek bones and fill in hollowing of the mid-face. Cheek implants are made of soft, solid silicone and come in different shapes and sizes. They are placed through an incision in the mouth which leaves no visible scar. This surgery must be done in the out-patient surgery center under general anesthesia. There will be noticeable swelling and occasionally bruising. Recovery requires seven full days of rest. Only light walking is allowed. No exercise for 3 weeks.
